What Do Brake Rotors Do?

For Toyota and Scion vehicles with disc brake systems -- all of them, in fact, from Toyota Camry sedans to Scion xB hatchbacks and more -- they do two things. First, they work together with the systems' brake calipers and brake pads to create the friction required to decelerate the vehicles and stop them. Second, they help scatter the heat produced while the brakes run.

What Types of Brake Rotors are There?

Four: blank & smooth (called smooth, for short), slotted, drilled (i.e., cross-drilled), and drilled & slotted. What a Toyota or Scion model generally has from the factory depends on what it's compatible with, and vice versa.

What are the Signs of Failing Brake Rotors?

There are three main ones. See any of them, and you'll need to inspect and replace any problematic rotors according to the results. The first is unusual noises when braking, while the second and third are damaged rotor surfaces and wobbling when you brake. Be sure to change rotors in pairs, too, as it'll help keep the ride you love capable of braking properly.

When and How Do You Change Brake Rotors?

Unless you see the symptoms above first, the answer's every 70,000 miles or so. As for how to do it -- that isn't too complicated. You're in luck, too: whether you drive a Scion FR-S sports car, a Toyota Tacoma truck, or otherwise, the process is very similar. When you buy new brake rotors, though, be sure to get the genuine OEM article.

Why Buy Genuine Toyota & Scion Brake Rotors vs. Aftermarket?

What each brand designs for its many models, from the Scion tC to the Toyota Sienna -- it's going to come compatible with them specifically. That's not always the case with brake rotors off the aftermarket. The latter may even be less reliable, too.

Where and How Do I Order OEM Replacement Brake Rotors for Toyota & Scion Vehicles Online?

Our auto parts store carries plenty. They're priced more affordably than at other online sellers to boot. For example, the average cost of brake rotor replacement can run $300 to $400 or so, at least. That's true regardless of whether you're behind the wheel of, say, a smaller SUV such as Toyota RAV4, a larger pickup like Toyota Tundra, or otherwise. And that's just to begin with! Our prices, however, are less than MSRP most of the time. Moreover, since you're probably planning on doing repairs or upgrades yourself, you'll end up saving on labor costs, too.

To order, browse our catalog by first selecting your make, model, and model year; it's the quickest and easiest way to get to what you need. Buy now, and we'll ship fast, anywhere in the US. For further information regarding shipping, returns, and cancellations policies, feel free to check out our webstore's many pages, but don't hesitate to contact us, should you need anything while shopping.
